The internal air emergency valve meets HM183 requirements for an internal self-closing stop valve. Moreover, the body incorporates a shear section made of aluminum that satisfies 49CFR178.345-8 and is tested per TTMA RP 84. In the event of an under-ride accident, the 1/8-inch NPT air inlet shears and closes the valve.
Additionally, a fusible plug installed in the system dumps air pressure if temperatures exceed 212°F. Moreover, the valve uses Teflon® encapsulated seals for compatibility with a wide range of products. Other seal options are also available.
Furthermore, an internal air cylinder saves space on the exterior of the valve, providing maximum clearance for piping. In addition, a stainless-steel jackscrew equips the valve, enabling manual operation in the event of an air system failure.
Maximum Operating Pressure
Moreover, the Maximum Operating Pressure defines the maximum tank pressure that the valve can open against with a given airline pressure. Maximum Operating Pressure is 21 psi with 80 psi line pressure and 25 psi with 100 psi line pressure. The Valve MAWP is 35 psi [2.4 bar] and the Minimum Bursting Pressure is 140 psi [9.7 bar].
Additionally, the fusible plug melts at 212°F [100°C]. If the valve is subject to higher temperatures, it is necessary to move the fusible plug to isolate it from heat.
Caution: Ensure proper installation and maintenance of the valve. Never bottom load through the emergency valve without first opening the valve. Failure to do so may result in damage to the tank and/or valve.
